Wizards might vary from region to region, but this would be the concept that each Wizard (or at least most) belong to a certain wizarding tradition. Each Tradition knows 2-3 schools of magic and has a strong theme. For example:

The Dark Order of <god of undeath and destruction's name>

Schools: Evocation (Preferring flame), Necromancy and Illusion (Shadow spells only)

Northern College of the Mirage

Schools: Illusion, Abjuration and Conjuration (Creation subschool only)

Under this system there would be a certain archetype for the pathfinder wizard to fit.

Each tradition would likely have 2 good sized schools and a smaller school, or a subschool with it. As well as typical themes that would fit in the setting.

Actual organizations and archetype to be thought of later.

This may only apply to wizards from a particular continent or country too. Individual organizations will be listed under organizations.

this is a good alternative to my radical idea of only having the spells from your school specialization. i would still like to see something along those lines. maybe you get those 3 schools, one of which has to be your specialization and then the other 2 could be like your minor studies. the rest of the schools would be banned.

thats why i suggested the collaborative effort, things that sound good to me might not to someone else.

i just think universalists are dumb, magic is too complicated to dabble in a little of everything

Maybe Wizard regions are like tribes, stylized themes similar to Avatar & Legend of Korra.

Maybe instead of wizards being separated into tribes, witches would be the one who separate and choose to focus in particular themes. Perhaps witches are the ones who commune with the spirits and deal with spiritual circumstances in this world.
