Mountain Top Kingdom of Rash'el

In a lush jungle continent there sits a mountain top kingdom named Rash'el. Known for its highly educated population, it's court culture and its dueling culture. The kingdom is ran by a matriarchy, pursuits of art and romantic poetry are considered quite fashionable. Rash'el translates from the local language as "Court of Roses".



Potential Rash'el Duelist

Government Structure: A council of landed nobles elects a temporary queen every 10 years to serve as the head of state.

Below them power is in the hands of the eldest female of each noble family. People marry into families and adopt the family name, typically this is a man marrying into a woman's clan and adopting her clan name, but younger sisters often marry into men's houses and adopt their names. This is especially true of the man's clan has no living matriarch, or no obvious heir to the matriarchy.

A series of terraced farms and fortifications keep the city safe from the savage elves and keeps the wilds of the jungle at bay. Leaving the city by road is dangerous, but leaving it by jungle is unheard of.

Rash'elians are an odd society. For they are the only human civilization known on their continent (aside from more recent colonization attempts) But their origins are a mystery to them. Their records go only back to the war of the gods and are unclear.

However ancient rumor holds the secret of their past is locked away in a forgotten pyramid deep in the dangerous jungles.

im really liking the ideas for this place, its giving me a pulp adventure feeling

Yeah, getting a similar feel. Definitely going to take it in that direction.


The vague opening of my next campaign is basically an accident with an elf gate back in golarion strands the little level 1s smack dab in this jungle with only the clothes on their back... oh and a handful of others who will be picked off by the jungle. (Though im not sure I want to run that many NPCs).

since the likelihood of Rash'el needing to send people out into the jungle for food and lumber and things maybe they have a crack unit of rangers or wardens. something with a fancy name that all the kids want to be when they grow up

Yeah i've definately been playing with the idea of elite rangers who enter the jungle, but I dont have any cool name or theme for them yet.

The Elite Rangers are known as the Queen's Panthers. They go ranging into the forrest where they conflict with the Elves and the beasts and other monsters.

When I picture the mountain in my head it s hould rise above the rest of the jungle, the lights from the city clearly visible, "Like a beacon" to those lost in the jungle.

The main inspiration for the visual is the way Mount Shasta seems to raise 10,000 feet into the air from the surrounding 'planes' (actually itself a highland)

Pictures don't do it justice, but the lone mountain is a sight to beyond.
